Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient healing Art that harmonizes the body’s energy by using the fingers and hands. Available to each one of us, it is a gentle, yet dynamic way to facilitate the body’s own healing ability at the root level to promote increased health and wellbeing.
Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient healing art that has been part of humanity's natural wisdom for centuries. Once passed down orally from generation to generation, its teachings were nearly lost until Jiro Murai, a Japanese scholar, dramatically revived the practice in 1912. After healing himself from a terminal illness, he devoted his life to studying the body's energy pathways, identifying key energy points—known as Safety Energy Locks—that could harmonize and restore vitality. Murai named this profound method Jin Shin Jyutsu, meaning "the art of happiness, benevolence, and longevity." In the 1950s, his dedicated student Mary Burmeister brought Jin Shin Jyutsu to the West, translating its wisdom for a global audience. Today, thousands of practitioners worldwide continue to share and expand its legacy, helping individuals reconnect with their innate healing potential.
Literally translated from the Japanese, Jin Shin Jyutsu means 'The Art of the Creator through the Man of Knowing and Compassion'.
Jin Shin Jyutsu works by gently placing the hands on specific energy points, known as Safety Energy Locks (SELs), to restore balance and promote the body’s natural healing ability. There are 26 pairs of SELs—one set on each side of the body—acting as concentrated spheres of energy. When the flow of energy is disrupted, applying light touch to these areas helps harmonize circulation, release blockages, and activate the body’s self-healing process. Through this effortless technique, Jin Shin Jyutsu empowers individuals to regain harmony in body, mind, and spirit.
